This earthquake was part of a series of seismic events that hit several countries on Monday. Earlier in the day, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan at 4:00 pm, with the epicenter located at latitude 36.60°N and longitude 72.89°E, also at a depth of 10 kilometers. Like in Telangana, no casualties or significant property damage were reported in Pakistan.
Additionally, a stronger 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck off the east coast of Taiwan. The tremor occurred about 30 kilometers offshore at a depth of 6.6 kilometers, briefly shaking buildings in the capital, Taipei. However, there have been no reports of injuries or structural damage from the Taiwanese earthquake.
Seismologists note that shallow quakes, like the ones experienced in Telangana and Pakistan, can often be more dangerous due to the energy released closer to the Earth’s surface, leading to stronger ground shaking.
The region’s authorities continue to assess the situation, while residents are advised to stay vigilant for any aftershocks in the coming hours.
