Heavy rains in the upper reaches of Telangana and neighbouring states have put the Godavari river projects under severe flood pressure. The Godavari river level has risen to an unprecedented level near Basar and the first Pushkar Ghat has been dangerously inundated.

Roads leading from Janasruti Temple to the Godavari river have been submerged. Hari Hara Cottage has been submerged due to backwater of SRSP. The Sri Ram Sagar project is in heavy flood condition, as a result of which the authorities have opened 39 major gates and released 3,44,575 cusecs of water.
Authorities have also opened 10 gates in the Singur project after the water discharge reached a record level. The water of the Manjra river is flowing over the famous pilgrimage site Edupalla temple. Due to the large inflow of water, 43 gates are being opened and water is being released in the Elampally project. Authorities have advised people living along the project to be alert.
On the other hand, the Krishna river is also flowing heavily due to rain in the upper areas. The areas along the river are being evacuated. Authorities are continuously monitoring in Vasu Nagar and Hindupur villages of Krishna mandal in Narayanpet district.
Due to the heavy inflow of water in the Krishna and Bhima rivers due to rain in Karnataka and Maharashtra, the surrounding villages have been flooded and the people there are being shifted to safer places.
The priests have been shifted to a safer place as the water reached the Dutt Bhimeshwar temple located at the confluence of Krishna and Bhima. The crops have been badly damaged due to the water entering the fields on the banks.
