Hyderabad: Two more Indirama canteens, which provide food for just Rs. 5, were inaugurated in Hyderabad. The canteens, located in Moti Nagar and Khairatabad Mint Compound, were inaugurated by Transport Minister Poonam Prabhakar and Mayor Vijaya Lakshmi.
The new canteens have modern food containers, seating facilities, RO drinking water, wash basins and drainage facilities. Currently, 150 canteens are running within the GHMC limits, from which an average of 30,000 people are benefiting daily.
The aim of these canteens is to make Hyderabad hunger-free. Breakfast is being served in the Indira canteens for just Rs 5 and lunch for Rs 5. GHMC is spending Rs 14 on breakfast and Rs 24.83 on lunch. The financial burden on each person is being reduced by about Rs 3,000.
On this occasion, Minister Poonam Prabhakar said that under the orders of the Chief Minister, Indira canteens have been started. Food is already being served for Rs 5, from now on breakfast will also be served for Rs 5.
