HYDERABAD – The Telangana government has taken a major step to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs) in the state by exempting these vehicles from registration fee. This announcement was made by state transport minister Poonam Prabhakar while interacting with the media.
According to the transport minister, the EV policy introduced under GO 41 will come into force from tomorrow and will remain in force till the year 2026. Under this policy, 100% tax exemption will be given on motorcycles, autos and transport buses. Electric buses will soon be introduced in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, a major step towards making public transport environmentally friendly.
Poonam Prabhakar appealed to the public to focus on purchasing electric vehicles instead of conventional fuel-powered vehicles. He said that electric vehicles are not only helpful in environmental protection but will also prove to be financially beneficial for consumers, as their use can save up to one lakh rupees per year.
This initiative of the government is not only an important effort to protect the environment but will also help in promoting the use of alternative sources of energy. Increasing sales of electric vehicles will lead the state to lower carbon emissions and improve environmental conditions.
