Hyderabad: Police are recording complete details of motorcyclists who repeatedly violate the rules in the court records.
In Hyderabad city, the traffic police are collecting fines by filing charge sheets in the court on pending challans. The police have focused on collecting challans.
Charge sheets are being filed against owners of vehicles with more than ten pending challans. A special team has also been formed for this purpose.
A message is sent to the phone number linked to the vehicle registration number and information about the registration of the case is provided. Information about the date and time of appearance in court is being sent.
Legal notices are being sent to those who do not respond to it. After this, they have to appear in court and collect the pending challans.
During the current year, the traffic police filed charge sheets against 1115 people, produced them in court and collected fines. Legal notices were sent to 5,431 people.
When this challan system was introduced, initially, charge sheets were filed against motorcyclists who had exceeded three challans and they were produced in court.
Motorcyclists who evaded paying challans were caught during a special drive. Although a large discount on challans was offered twice in the past, many people did not avail of it. At present, 150 vehicles with pending challans are also plying on the city roads. The police are identifying such motorcycles that have more than 10 challans.
