Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay has strongly criticised the Congress government in Telangana for its decision to auction 400 acres of University of Hyderabad land. Taking to Twitter, he accused the state government of violating a court order and destroying the environment for financial gain.

He claimed that the land falls within the forest area and as per the Supreme Court verdict, no forest land can be transferred or sold without the approval of the central government. He pointed out that the case regarding this land is pending in the High Court, and the court has directed the state government to file a counter affidavit in response to the application of an NGO called Vata Foundation by April 7.

The minister strongly opposed the auction, saying that the state government was ignoring court proceedings and violating court orders. “Despite knowing that the matter is sub-judice, the state government is committing contempt of court in the name of land acquisition.

The environment is being destroyed by cutting trees, while the government is falsely claiming that plantation is being done.” Slamming the Congress leadership, Bandi Sanjay accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of deviating from his past stand. “Have you forgotten that Revanth Reddy had earlier opposed unnecessary sale of government lands?

Now, this auction is the height of Congress’s opportunism,” he further claimed. The Congress government is showing even more irresponsibility than the previous BRS government.

The minister demanded the immediate withdrawal of the decision to sell the land of Gachi Baoli, warning that otherwise the people would teach the government a suitable lesson.
